You can export objects from the Cloud Services Portal and store them for future reuse. For more information on the types of objects supported and on the import/export process, see Importing and Exporting Data.

To view the exported objects, go to Administration -> Data/Export -> Data Export. The following information is shown:

  • Filename: the name of the exported file
  • Created by: the account name of the user who exported the file
  • Start time: the start time of the export
  • End time: the end time of the export
  • Object Type: the number and types of the objects in the exported data
  • Status: an indication of whether the export is in progress, is completed, or failed
  • Download: the download status of the exported file 
  • Error: if the export operation failed, a link to the error log that describes the reason of the failure

You can do the following in this tab:

  • Click Sort By to sort by Created by, Description, Name, Start time or Status
  • Click  to sort in ascending or descending order.
  • Enter the keyword in the Search field, to search for a particular entry. 
  • Click to filter by Name, Description, Created By, Start time or Status

To export data, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Administration -> Data Import/Export -> Data Export.
  2. Click Export
  3. Specify the following in the General Information tab:
    • Name: the name of the exported data
    • Description: the description of the exported data
    • Tags: the key-value pair associated with the export

      To add a tag, click Add and specify the following details:

      • KEY: Enter a meaningful name for the key, such as a location or a department.  

      • VALUE: Enter a value for the key, such as San Jose or Accounts.

        To remove a tag, select its check box and click Remove. For details, see Managing Tags.

  4. Click Next
  5. Choose the type of the file to be exported. For details, see Supported Formats.
    • JSON: The data will be exported in JSON format. 
    • CSV: The data will be exported in CSV format. 
  6. Choose the types of objects to be exported:
    • IPAM/DHCP: Choose the IPAM/DHCP objects to be included. 
    • ON-PREM HOSTS: Choose the on-prem host objects to be included. 
    • Host Config: View the Host Config parameters, or modify them by selecting an on-prem host and clicking Edit. Host Config consists of on-prem host parameters, such as IP Interface Settings, DNS, Local Resolver, IP Settings, Time Settings, Docker Bridge Settings, and Kubernetes Bridge Settings. 
  7. Click Next.
  8. Specify a method for handling errors:
    • Skip failed records (continue export)
    • Stop export if any record fails
  9. Click Next
  10. Review the summary.
  11. Click Start Export.


This feature can import at most 35,000 objects at a time. On average, an imported file with 35,000 objects will be approximately 50 MB in size.
